Pain Relief and Management

Acupuncture has been used to treat aches and pains since 200 B.C. It can help improve circulation of Qi (energy), relax muscles and tissues, increase local nutritional intake, and balance local structures. In 2015, Dr. Oz voted acupuncture as the number one alternative choice for pain relief.

Get your smile back by relieving your acute and chronic pain naturally without side effects that come with pharmaceutical pain killers. Some acute pain (i.e.: back pain, shoulder pain, knee pain, migraines) can be relieved in just 10-20 minutes.

Our natural pain relief methods are: acupuncture, ear herbal seeds, herbal teas or pills, herbal patches, herbal creams, and Chinese Tui Na medical massage.

Internal Medicine

An increasing number of studies have been conducted on treating internal disorders with Chinese medicine with promising results.

Acupuncture treatments may benefit symptoms by:

  • Providing pain relief.
  • Regulating the motility of the digestive tract.
  • Raising the sensory threshold of the gut.
  • Activates the parasympathetic nervous system; initiates the relaxation or "rest and digest" response.
  • Reducing anxiety and depression; alter the brain’s chemistry.
  • Increases production of serotonin and endorphins.
Dermatology

In TCM, skin and lungs belong together, because the skin is like an outer lung with pores that breathe and exchange substances with the outside world.

Modern medicine uses drugs and repeated external therapies to suppress skin problems. TCM goes to the root of the problem and cures without future relapses. In the TCM approach, pathological factors are represented by earthly elements. An excess amount of an element can result in unique characteristics of a skin disease.

Common Treatable Conditions:
-Acne
-Alopecia
-Eczema
-Psoriasis
-Vitiligo
-Hives

Ophthalmology

In the TCM approach, there are internal and external factors that cause eye diseases, and each part of the eye is associated with an internal organ, as shown in the picture above. The internal cause of ophthalmologic diseases is the dysfunction of organs. The liver is the primary organ relating to the eyes in Chinese medicine. Many eye diseases are related to the health of the liver organ system. By treating Qi (energy) and blood deficiency in the corresponding organs, we can strengthen eye functions and improve eye health. External factors like wind, coldness, dampness, dryness, heat, and fire cause Qi (energy) and blood stagnation. They can also be eliminated.

Treatable Common Conditions:

  • Refractive errors: nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, presbyopia
  • Cataracts
  • Diabetic retinopathy
  • Age-related macular degeneration
  • Dry AMD or wet AMD
  • Retinitis pigmentosa
  • Xerophthalmia

Women’s Health

TCM has significant advantages in treating gynecological disorders with natural remedies and without side effects. Common treatable issues include:

  • Infertility caused by hormonal imbalance
  • Change in pattern of periods: shorted/liger, lighter/heavier, more or less time between periods
  • Hot flashes, night sweats
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Mood swings, irritability, crying spells
  • Trouble concentrating, feeling foggy or confused
  • PMS & Menstrual cramps
  • Hair loss or thinning, unusual hair growth on face

After the initial consultation, we customize a treatment plan based on your body’s conditions. There are three traditional treatment programs from which you can select, based on your body conditions and your response to treatment.

  1. Acupuncture 2-3x/week, herbal tea or pills, and ear seeds.
  2. Herbal tea or pills and herbal ear seeds/pin.
  3. Herbal ear seeds/pins only.

Infertility

Sino-American Acupuncture provides acupuncture and herbal therapy for women seeking a natural pregnancy or planning to use reproductive techniques such as IUI and IVF.

How TCM works:

  1. Moving the flow of Qi (vital energy) to areas that are deficient, empowers local organs, and encourages fertility.
  2. Placing the body in a calm and restorative state that increases a sense of well-being helps the body to accept the creation of life.
  3. Balancing elevated follicle stimulating hormones (FSH) and regulating the menstrual cycle.
  4. Regulating neuro-endocrinological function improves local blood circulation of the uterus and ovaries.
  5. Acupuncture can reduce uterine contractions and assist in embryo implantations. It has also been proven to alleviate anxiety, stress and depression.

Sports Injuries

Improper training and lack of appropriate safety equipment can lead to sports injuries during organized competitions, training sessions, or fitness activities. Most sports injuries are injuries of joints, strained ligaments, and pulled muscles.

Acupuncture has been treating physical injuries for centuries. It can treat acute trauma like muscle, ligament, or joint injuries, as well as chronic, conditions like lower back pain, shoulder, knee, and ankle pain.

In the 2012 Summer Olympics, professional athletes employed acupuncturists to keep in top shape and maintain peak performance. Treatments ranged from acupuncture to cupping or Chinese herbology. Nowadays, acupuncture is one of the primary alternative treatment and rehabilitation modalities in sports medicine.

After a 15-20 min session of acupuncture, patients with physical injuries experience pain relief, reduced swelling and increased mobility. For chronic conditions, best results of acupuncture and herbs are achieved when treatments are frequent and consistent.
